HACO supports and prioritizes the pursuit of higher education for Hmong youth. In 2019, HACO established the Hmong Oregon Scholarship Fund. Each year, HACO awards a $1000 scholarship to two graduating high school seniors in Oregon.
Application requirements are:
- Graduating high school senior in the state of Oregon
- Pursuing a degree at an accredited 2 or 4-year college or university
- GPA of 2.0 or higher
- Be of Hmong descent
- Answer to essay question
- High school transcript
- 2 recommendation letters

Alison Cha and Kengi Cha
Alison plans to major in biology at Portland State University, and ultimately become a pharmacist. Kengi will attend Oregon State University and major in environmental engineering, which provides solutions to problems with our land, air and water resources. We commend both of these young Hmong individuals for their dedication, not only to academics, but also in supporting their families and community.
